At Raider we've committed ourselves to creating high quality lures. Our line of trolling spoons offers a wide variety of color combinations in two sizes. RAIDER spoons are painted with the finest paints and processes to prevent chipping and fading. Our Blades are of the highest quality and made in the United States. They carry old favorites known to work. Raider original designs feature color schemes proven successful through years of field testing.
At Raider, we are proud to be an American Manufacturer. "Made in America" can legally mean "pretty much made in America". Well, our spoon bodies, paint, spoon tape, split rings hooks and packaging materials are made in America. Our paint booth was made in Illinois, and our paint guns were made in America, along with the packaging machine we use. The truck we use to take the packages to the post office was made in America. Our painting is done in Davisburg, MI or in Minnesota and the finishing, packaging, assembly and shipping is done in Davisburg, MI.
Our Fish Holder is made in America. The stainless steel hook is bent and finished in a factory in Massachusetts, the Rubber Handle Body is made in Ohio and the Grip is made in Rochester, MI. The packaging is printed here in Davisburg, MI.
Raider Spoons originated in Red Hook, NY near Lake Ontario with Rob Horst. The "Rosys", the "Zulus" and the "Zekes" are all proven Lake Ontario favorites. In 2004 Josh Swanton bought Red Hook Tackle and moved it to Wisconsin. He added many Lake Michigan favorites, including the aptly named "Bloody Death" and in 2006 added Super Glow colors. "Chicken Pox" became one of the hottest spoons around the Great lakes, so much so at least one "major" spoon manufacturer has copied it, including the name. In 2007, Josh learned that he was to be deployed overseas with the Naval Reserve.
In 2005 Bob Hicks of Davisburg (and as much as possible, Ludington) Michigan started Bob's Outdoors, an online tackle business. He was very impressed with the finish on the Raider Spoons and decided to carry all colors, giving the fisherman a place where he could always find that one Raider Spoon he needs. Bob's Outdoors became Red Hook Tackle's largest customer.
When Josh learned of his deployment, it just made sense for Bob to purchase the company and the line of spoons. Raider Spoons will still be available in your local tackle stores, and as always at Bob's Outdoors.
Raider Spoons will continue to offer high quality spoons with high quality, durable finishes in innovative colors. We have an extensive Pro-Staff developing and testing next year's colors. When you buy a Raider Spoon, you know you are buying a lure that works, and will last.
